The "Potato Chip" Chair - Barbara Kurz, Client Relationship Manager
Submitted by Strategic Partners Financial Group on May 15th, 2017Are you familiar with a chair designed by Eames that is commonly referred to as the "potato chip" chair? It was recognized by Time Magazine as the "Best Design of 20th Century".
The chair is molded plywood with a scooped seat that looks very much like a potato chip! It was launched into prominence during World War II when it's designers discovered how to combine pressure and heat to mold plywood into things such as splints, stretchers, and glider shells, all of which were successfully used during the war.
If you would like to see one for yourself, we have several of them in our reception area of our office - stop in any time you are in the vicinity and have a seat!
